About Us
Muhammad University of Islam was established in 1934 by The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad in the city of Detroit, Michigan. The Muhammad Universities of Islam were born from the need to revive, reform and redeem black people who had suffered from the miseducation and hostility towards blacks in the public school system.
After the departure of The Most Honorable Elijah Muhammad in 1975, The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan began the laborious task of rebuilding the Nation in 1977 and reopened the Muhammad Universities of Islam in 1989.
Here in Alabama, MUI (Birmingham) was opened under the direction of Student Minister Tremon Muhammad and his wife Sister April Muhammad in 2005. We thank them both for their many years of hard work and sacrifice in this city. We also thank the students who attended, as well as their parents and the host of supporters.

Director's Message
On behalf of The Honorable Minister Louis Farrakhan, Student Minister James Muhammad, of Muhammad Mosque #69, and the faculty of Muhammad University of Islam (Birmingham), welcome to an exciting and challenging new school year. It is our honor and privilege to serve Allah (God) and His Messiah in preparing our children to be gods, servants of The Most High God, in thoughts, deeds, and actions.
Muhammad University of Islam’s academic courses are rooted in the knowledge of God. Since all knowledge comes from Him, then it is only proper for the student to learn from the perspective of God. In addition, a parent-teacher partnership is vital for us to teach and train our students in the way of righteousness, decency and self-respect.
